The Churchill MK VII crocodile. The Churchill Crocodile was a specialised variant of the British Churchill tank used during World War II. It was equipped with a flamethrower system known as the ‘Crocodile’ And which gave the variant its name. It was designed primarily for the purpose of providing close support to infantry by projecting a stream of fire towards enemy positions. The Crocodile flamethrower system consisted of a large fuel trailer towed behind the Churchill tank. The trailer contained a substantial amount of fuel, typically around 400 gallons (1,818 liters), which was pressurized by a gas generator mounted on the tank. The fuel was expelled through a long, flexible hose attached to the tank's turret, terminating in a nozzle mounted on the hull front. The range of the Crocodile flamethrower system was relatively short, typically around 120 yards (110 meters), but it was highly effective in close-quarters combat. More dusty history. More of my personal model memories from way back.

Completing my model collection from way back when. These were kits that I made, good or bad, twenty years ago before life moved me to Japan. It's nice to have a record of these though there are so many that go lost in the upheaval. Macchi 202 I think. This was the G-50 if memory serves. I know this was Airfix. That paint scheme though. I'd love to do it again. The old Airfix Folland Gnat. Showing it's age... Even when I built it. Horrible old model and yet I loved building it. Old Airfix Douglas Dauntless. If I remember right, this was the Matchbox Wildcat. The deep panels lines make me think of Matchbox. I think this is a Matchbox F-40 Warhawk... That's got those deep panel lines too. Four guns for the price of one. 20mm Flakvierling 38. A box of barrels. The German 20mm Flakvierling 38, also known as the Quad 20mm Flak 38, was a widely used anti-aircraft gun during World War II. It was developed by the German manufacturer Rheinmetall-Borsig and saw extensive service with the German military and its allies. Let's investigate what's in the box. Four guns for the price of one. The Flakvierling 38 was a towed, manually operated, quadruple-barreled anti-aircraft gun. It featured four 20mm barrels mounted in a rectangular arrangement on a central carriage. The gun had a high rate of fire, capable of shooting up to 180 rounds per minute per barrel. It had a maximum effective range of approximately 2,200 meters against aircraft targets.
